Work type

The Connector

People are your medium. You read a room quickly, you enjoy persuading and helping, and a day without conversations feels flat regardless of what you produced.

What this work type really means

Connectors measure a good day in conversations, not deliverables. You can tell within minutes what somebody actually needs versus what they said, and losing someone's trust is the failure you'd take hardest.

The honest warning: commercial roles are the fastest way for a Connector to build leverage early, and also the fastest way to burn out if the targets require you to push things people shouldn't buy. Ask what happens to someone who misses target twice — the answer tells you what the culture really is.

Connectors who last pair relationships with a domain: a product they genuinely understand, a sector they care about, or a technical foundation. That combination is what turns a likeable graduate into someone whose calls get returned in ten years.
